New playground at Sri Aurobindo High School

Thanks to a very generous donation to Mandelzweig-Projekthilfe e.V., the construction of the community playground of Sri Aurobindo Purnanga Shiksha Kendra in Nimapara in the district of Puri started in December 2021. The playground was destroyed by a cyclone in 2019.

The sports and playground for the school and village children on the grounds of Sri Aurobindo High School was planned with the cooperating Indian NGOs and local children. In October 2021, the time had come: Thanks to a private donation, the destroyed playground could be rebuilt. The children and young people of the village, who are suffering greatly from the pandemic and increased poverty, took possession of it with great enthusiasm even before the inauguration.  In addition, a basketball and badminton court will be built, which is still under construction. Through sports, children develop their physical abilities, make new friends, have fun, learn to be a team member and play fair, and improve their self-esteem. In addition, sport brings together people from all over the world, regardless of their nationality, religion, culture or skin color. A volunteer is responsible for maintaining the course and accompanying the children for safe and inclusive play. Sri Aurobindo High School is also a long-standing partner school in the Lettercrossing program (see ongoing projects).
